Recipe: Teriyaki Chicken

Teriyaki chicken - the typical side to a Japanese bento set meal.

It's a dish that looks deceptively simple to whip up and well, honestly speaking, the preparation isn't really challenging, so noob cooks, fear not. If I can safely procure this dish without blowing up my kitchen, so can you!

(serves 3-4)

- A piece of boneless chicken breast

- Cabbage
- Soy sauce
- Honey
- Pepper
- Ginger

1. Slice cabbage into fine strips.

2. Stir-fry cabbage sprinkled with salt in oil-heated wok for a minute.

3. Arrange cabbage on plate.

4. Thaw the chicken breast.

5. Slice ginger and place it in marinating sauce with 1 tbsp honey, 3 tbsp soy sauce and a sprinkle of pepper. Heat marinating sauce in saucepan till ingredients are finely mixed. Marinate chicken breast in the sauce for about an hour.

6. Pour some vegetable oil into the non-stick pan and heat. Cook teriyaki chicken and flip till the sides are glazed with a light brown colour. Remove the chicken and slice. Drizzle the cooked marinating sauce over the chicken (Add water or soy sauce for taste).

7. Serve.
