Recipe: Grilled Salmon

With supermarket-bought salmon, I doubt we could make proper sashimi with it. Anyway, my slicing skills still leaves much room for improvement. No, no matter how high I score for fruit ninja, it doesn't automatically translate to awesome blade-wielding skills in real life.

Since sashimi is definitely out of the picture, why not try grilling salmon in the Japanese cuisine bento way instead?

(serves 2-3)

- A slab of salmon
- Brown sugar
- Seafood soy sauce (or light soy sauce will also suffice)
- Lemon
- Pepper and salt to taste
- Italian herbs
- Finely chopped garlic (optional)
- Vegetable oil
- Corn starch
- Spring onions and tomatoes (for garnishing)

1. Thaw the salmon and slice it into thin slabs that could be grilled easily.

2. Finely chop 1 clove of garlic.

3. Add 1 tsp of corn starch, a sprinkle of salt, pepper, italian herbs, 2 tsp of brown sugar, 2 tbsp of seafood soy sauce, 1 tsp of freshly squeezed lemon juice and 3 tblsp of water. Stir the marinating sauce.

3. Marinate salmon in the sauce and place it in the fridge for 2 hours.

4. Grill salmon for 6 minutes per side till fully cooked.

5. Cook the marinating sauce and drizzle over the salmon. Add spring onions and tomatoes for garnishing.

6. Serve.

*Optional: Lemon juice can also be sprinkled over the grilled salmon.
