Chinese Spinach in Superior Broth Recipe


With such a fancy-sounding name, Chinese restaurants charge more than 5x the amount actually required to cook this simple dish. Why waste the $ when you can easily whip it up at home?

(Serves 6)
- A pack of Chinese Spinach
- 2 cloves of garlic, minced
- 1/3 bowl of ikan bilis
- A handful of wolf berries
- Ikan bills stock
- 1 egg
- Salt

1. Heat wok and coat the bottom with oil.
2. Fry ikan bilis till crispy. It will take about 5 minutes.
3. Remove ikan bilis and allow it to cool in a dry bowl.
4. In the same wok, stir in garlic and fry till fragrant.
5. Add in the spinach, a tiny bit of ikan bilis stock and 1/2 tsp salt.
6. Mix in washed wolf berries and cubed century egg.
7. Pour in some water and allow it to simmer.
8. Add the beaten egg into the gravy and mix.
9. Top the dish with the fried ikan bilis and serve.
